We offer a 4 days / 3 nights tour, a 3 days / 2 nights tour and a 2 days / 1 night tour.

The 2D/1N tour has the same itinerary as the first two days of the 4D/3N tour. Therefore, it is the same itinerary as day 1 and day 2 mentioned below. On the second day you will pack your luggage around 5 p.m. and our staff will be ready to transfer you to Puerto Maldonado.

The  3D/2N tour skips the third day of the 4D/3N tour. Therefore, it is the same itinerary as day 1, day 2 and day 4 mentioned below.

Day 1: Canopy day
Upon arrival to Puerto Maldonado, either at the airport or bus station, one of our local guides will meet you and will transfer you to our office. Here, you will be able to re-pack and leave the baggage that you won’t need for this tour, pack lightly!

We will start our trip from the tourist port (Puerto Capitania), where we take a motorized boat for about 45 minutes downstream to the Sandoval port. Once we arrive at our lodge we get a nice welcome drink, but don’t settle to quickly as we are heading for our first adventure: canopy walk and ziplining. We go to a platform where we can zipline across a 200 meter long cable, a true adrenaline experience! After the zipline we reach a platform at approximately 30 meters heigth and can walk on bridges with beautiful views that connects to a different platform from where we can take our second 160 meter long zipline.

After this we can enjoy our well deserved lunch and rest for a little bit, as our second activity is planned. Protected by life jackets and an extra motorboat we row with kayaks on the river, a relaxing activity for all! We reach monkey island where we can view monkeys like the capuchin, tamarines and squirrel monkeys. After visiting we travel back to our lodge, and for those who are not tired yet we arrange a nocturnal caiman spotting activity! 

Day 2: Lake Sandoval
After our breakfast and pre-made lunch we take the boat to go to the checkpoint for the Tambopata national reserve. After 1.5 hours of walking trough the rainforest we are approaching the famous Sandoval Lake. It’s characterized by immense ancient trees and entangled vines. Besides this, we will be able to see animals like giant otters, different birds, coloured butterflies, turtles, and a variety of fish. We will spend some hours in our canoe on one of the most beautiful lakes in this region. After this, you will probably be tired and go rest at the lodge and sleep after your diner. 

Day 3: Fishing experience
We take a boat on the majestic Madre de Dios River and set course downstream for an hour to reach the Native Community of Ese´Ejas, the largest Ese Eja community numbering about 200 families. The Project “Rescuing Cultural Values“, situated on Gamitana Island, is working with two families who will show us the culture of their ancestors, their language and customs, clothing and dances. In our modern, civilized world we just may have forgotten about the existence of ancestral cultures and traditions and this is a great way to get know some of them. They give us the opportunity to have directcontact with the people of ancient warriors and hunters and to share their ancestral ways.

By the afternoon we have time to do traditional fishing in the Madre de Dios river,  where  with  some  luck  we’ll  have chance  to  catch  some species  like pictus cat fish, small mouth, armored cat fish and red eye piranhas. Afterwards we go back to our lodge, have dinner and rest.

Day 4: Parrots clay lick
Parrots and parakeets need to eat rich clay that provides them with the salts and minerals necessary to metabolize and neutralize the toxins and acids of the flowers, fruits, and seeds upon which they feed. Early each day, therefore, they congregate at the salt licks; clay walls along the rivers and streams in the Madre de Dios region.

At about 7:00 a.m. we get back to the lodge, have breakfast and return to Puerto Maldonado.
